Uh, so that pretty much makes them normal teenagers is how it looks to me.

"the number of tech stories has rapidly diminished in the last year. Even after the switch Digg made from being a purely tech site to covering other topics, this number kept falling steadily"The number of tech stories fell even after they made tech stories no longer the main focus? Say it ain't so!

"It's just an Obama fan site now."But then again, so is Ars: <a class="user" href="http://arstechnica.com/news.ars/post/20071114-obamas-innovation-plan-a-christmas-list-for-the-geekerarti.html">http://arstechnica.com/news.ars/post/20071114-obam ...</a>Maybe geeks just tend to be Obama fans?

FTA: "Some laughed at Slashdot when Digg surpassed its rankings on sites like Alexa, saying that Digg is going to stomp all over it; however, today Slashdot still delivers technology stories, while Digg simply isn’t tech-oriented at all anymore. Perhaps Digg is now bigger than Slashdot, but Slashdot is now a significantly more focused site than Digg; in a way, it is again the biggest wisdom-of-crowds tech site out there. It beat Digg at its own game by doing next to nothing."And to think that I've unsubscribed from the slashdot RSS feed because the tech news were practically the same as digg (at that time).

...and Yahtzee.Seriously, I like his reviews and everything, but there are even comments such as "I dugg this up before I even watched it," getting 75+ diggs.A lot of stories I see are just five-minutes worth of giggles. =/

Me too. I just wish it wasn't so addictive. Two years ago, I would sit up all night on digg, but I wouldn't feel bad about it because I learned a lot of stuff. Now, I still sit up late digging, but I feel like a moron afterwards for wasting my time :(

this comment will never get read... but you are 100% correct. The more sites like this try (kuro5hin, reddit, something else), the more it proves how correct slashdot is. They really are the gold standard of web community. For all the times I've said "screw slashdot, I'm going somewhere else", the place I went to tanked and back to slashdot I went :-)

this is old, but I digg (huh huh) what you are saying about this place being crack. I've blocked this place several times from my router. Yet here I am.

I've done a graph of the digg topics since the beginning of 2006 here<a class="user" href="http://blog.richardcunningham.co.uk/2008/02/tech-stories-percentage-dropping-on.html">http://blog.richardcunningham.co.uk/2008/02/tech-s ...</a>
