So where are the Democratic officials who repeated these allegations in order to pander to these protesters? In the Digg sidebar right now is Rep. Steve King, equating HCR to the beginnings of Communism in Prague and calling for mobs to shut down Washington. Palin brought us "death panels." Rep. Michelle Bachmann called Obama an "enemy of mankind" and accused him of setting up "re-education camps" through Americorps. Shall we bring Birthers into it? These are just off the top of my head, but I'm sure you can keep the examples coming, since the link is full of them.In the Bush years you had a few Congressmen arguing for impeachment and talking about Geneva violations (which honestly I find to be a pretty reasonable viewpoint on the whole so perhaps I am the wingnut). That's about the extent of it, and certainly it's overshadowed by the wide bipartisan support for the Patriot Act. Though to be fair, perhaps their tone was artificially subdued by the widespread feeling that criticizing the President during wartime was tantamount to treason (hey, where'd that go?)I know you're not going to compile a list to rival the one in the link, so how about just a quote from a Democratic Congressman that rivals the Bachmann quotes I referenced? Comment is buried, click here to see the rest.

---They have been under a conservative government basically since the war ended until the last election. They have realized that the conservative way of doing things hasn't worked out so great for them recently.---Japan totally gave up 'conservative' economic ideas since the early 1990s.After their stock market crashed, they decided to borrow hundreds of billions and stimulate their economy through government spending. It has not worked obviously.

A drivers license is a privilege. You are not forced to get a drivers license. You are only required to get car insurance if you own a car and drive it on the highway (unless, of course, you are an illegal alien). If Congress can force us to buy health insurance, there is no limit to their power. They can just as easily force us to buy a GM automobile, do our banking through a government owned bank, or seize our 401K assets ("borrow") to finance the huge deficits that are already here. Social Security is broke. Medicare is broke. There is no money to pay for this new unconstitutional entitlement. I say to all you true believers on the left: be careful what you wish for. This new government power can and will be used to your detriment.

Get a life. Opposition is based on fear of incompetent divisive policies of this administration. Nothing to do with your favorite boogie man - racism.

The fact that over 4000 people dugg this mindless tripe is proof that liberalism is a mental disorder.

I have an open letter for the ultra liberal Obama drones who supported this Marxist traitor who likes to bow to all of our enemies while he chastizes our allies. All of us patriots, bible thumpers, nationialist, are going to make sure that this arrogant elephant eared manchild Obama is thrust out on his arese in 2012. Know the depth of his enromous ego ( though based on what I don't know), this fraud will not run for re-election, so he is going to try and drive this country so far into socialism that it will take 20 years to reverse it. Well Barry, you God Damn fraud you are not going to hoodwink the populist a second time. Your actions that are destructive to this country will be repealed or reversed. Bye. Bye, Barry it wasn't good to know you but it will be great to see you leave, and quietly via the back door if you have any shame at all. You are lucky that you are not going to be tried for sedition, you damn traitor.

No offense cando, but being called an idiot by someone like you is a compliment. Did you read the post? Or did you just see 'guns, gotta defend and not think.'I explain to you about the degrading of our culture and you talk about the Revolution? If I spoke about the revolution would you talk about culture? Are you even capable of thought, or do you have to talk to your husband or preacher before you get an opinion?

The Conservatives do not want a mixed nation wherein their own ethnic strain is permanently modified, they do not want a circumcision fad, nor institutionalized polygamy, nor food being distributed before images they believe to be of idols, they want to be surrounded by their own culture, homosexuals were among the first to suffer from AIDS and people engaging in casual relations with multiple partners who do the same, and somewhere the hirers of commercialized sexuality, not those practicing polygamy or polyandry, are those who generate STDs ailments which are solely of this origin, deregulated banks can trigger financial disaster, new energy sources while probably evaluated as safe may carry unforeseen risks, health care must be the individual?s choice, it is very wrong to force the orientalized filth of prophylactic examinations on people who do not want this for reasons of personal dignity, others may prefer natural health and natural or alternative medicine, contraceptives now provided for in the healthcare budget increase reproductive, including cervical cancer, and are there to institutionalize animal copulation, when love is meant to be a union of beings and not of sexual organs, euthanasia must be fought vigourously now while there is yet time, lest we end up condemned to death by governmental health care and killed in health care facilities or in our homes by doctors. My father, Herbert Otto Altar, was refused resuscitation in Portugal by social security which knew perfectly they were paying him benefits he was not locally entitled to due to his income level which was obvious, although he would have been entitled elsewhere in the European Union irrespective of his income due to his blindness and medical professionals who knew I had been requesting urgently for him to be transferred overseas to a paid place. Conversion to Islam has occurred on a big scale in many populations, so the conservatives may have reason to be concerned. Disarmament and detention of populations has occurred in countries where this did not exist formerly. Impeachment is a legal right which may be invoked whenever deemed suitable, although it is quite ironical to see who actually is invoking this right...Blocking the administration via votes is a routine democratic Opposition technique. If violence is advocated by the conservatives, it is natural it appears in their metaphors, they are also entitled to draw attention to what they may believe are the secret and unpopular political tendencies of some members of the Oppositon, and to accuse them of criminality if they genuinely believe this to be the case, if however legal transgression is deemed to have taken place on the conservatives? part in any of these cases the Opposition may resort to legal recourse, and may rely for security probably on other entities as well. "Hitlerian" developements may ensue in the course of stem-cell research. Fornicators who defile the flag aboard naval vessels, the fornicatresses even daring to conceive, do reduce their vessels to circumstances which might beg Mr. Savage?s opinion. Such women actually given that they are a disgrace to the uniform are worse than those who sell their sexual functions given that the former take solemn oaths, while the others are known to be degraded. The shamelessness of military medical examinations may further this situation. There may be even at times grave lapses in the family values to which the conservatives subscribe, but that in itself does not make those values less valid. However Mr. Russell makes a valuable contribution in the condemnation of un-North American torture of Muslim minors before their parents in an American-run prison in a Muslim country, of the rejection of social justice guaranteed in the Constitution - "the pursuit of life, liberty, and happiness", of the undemocratic challenge to the voting rights of the proletarian poor, the legal sanction by Republican legal counsel of torture including of minors which would result in their sterilization, and possible death, and of annihilation of civilians, with apparent condoning of one of a series of war crimes as a precedent and use of high-technology, highly destructive weaponry with an internationally legally dubious precedent with solely Presidential authorization, and exclusion of Congress which may be legally problematical, although the President may indeed be invested with special powers to enable him to avert disasters in the sequence or consequence of his policies.

captspaulding wrote: "What exactly is your definition of "rammed"?Do you really need to ask that question? Rammed can be defined as bribing senators to vote for a bill that they otherwise would not have (Cornhusker kickback, Louisiana purchase). From Politico: Ben Nelson’s “Cornhusker Kickback,” as the GOP is calling it, got all the attention Saturday, but other senators lined up for deals as Majority Leader Harry Reid corralled the last few votes for a health reform package.Nelson’s might be the most blatant – a deal carved out for a single state, a permanent exemption from the state share of Medicaid expansion for Nebraska, meaning federal taxpayers have to kick in an additional $45 million in the first decade. But another Democratic holdout, Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-Vt.), took credit for $10 billion in new funding for community health centers, while denying it was a “sweetheart deal.” He was clearly more enthusiastic about a bill he said he couldn’t support just three days ago.Nelson and Sen. Carl Levin (D-Mich.) carved out an exemption for non-profit insurers in their states from a hefty excise tax. Similar insurers in the other 48 states will pay the tax.Vermont and Massachusetts were given additional Medicaid funding, another plus for Sanders and Sen. Patrick Leahy (D-Vt.) Three states – Pennsylvania, New York and Florida – all won protections for their Medicare Advantage beneficiaries at a time when the program is facing cuts nationwide. All of this came on top of a $300 million increase for Medicaid in Louisiana, designed to win the vote of Democratic Sen. Mary Landrieu.Under pressure from the White House to get a deal done by Christmas, Reid was unapologetic. He argued that, by definition, legislating means deal making and defended the special treatment for Nelson’s home state of Nebraska.Read more: http://www.politico.com/news/stories/1209/30815.ht ...This is in addition to all of the closed door meetings, back room deals, and out and out lies that the media keeps spewing about how wonderful this bill is. The majority of the public didn't want this bill. Yes, they want health care reform, but not a total take over by the government.
