amnestyusa.org — From Amnesty International press release. "some of the police actions appear to have breached United Nations (U.N.) standards on the use of force by law enforcement officials. These stipulate, among other things, that force should be used only as a last resort, in proportion to the threat posed, and should be designed to minimize damage or injury.

Help us! If things get bad, I pray our friends across the world, from all backgrounds, will come to help the ones who resist and have been resisting all along if s**t gets really bad.

The way these officers conducted themselves during the convention was disgusting. It's also very sad when I talk to people that think that it's ok for reporters to be arrested for attempting to document what is going on. Too many people out there only think about themselves, and could care less if someone else is being violated while attempting to protect all of our constitutional rights.

Of course, those who are guilty of war crimes couldn't care less about the violations of civil rights. Pigs.

You're kidding, right? This is the guy who reneged on his word and voted for the FISA overhaul, which will make COINTELPRO look like child's play and hinder grassroots political action for decades to come. I've voted in the past for more principled Democrats, but unless progressives, libertarians, and other assorted anti-authoritarians have limits to what we're willing to put up with, both major parties can move further toward right-wing authoritarianism. The corporate elites aren't shy about making good on their threats to take their votes and money elsewhere if one of the major parties doesn't serve them, so why shouldn't you do the same? If you've declared that the only condition of your allegiance to Obama is that he be to the left of McCain, then you shouldn't be surprised when the Republicans and Democrats both shift further toward militarism and corporate feudalism.

I miss the good ole' days when we only f**ked up other people's countries, not our own. Now we do both.
