washingtonpost.com — Critics said the fence does not take into account the extraordinarily varied geography of the 2,000-mile-long border, which cuts through Mexican and U.S. cities separated by a sidewalk, vast scrubland and deserts, rivers, irrigation canals and miles of mountainous terrain.

Or the wall of intolerance
notfaded1Oct 10, 2006
IF WE BUILD IT THEY WON'T COME... simple as that. If we can build the space shuttle and nanospheres then we should easily be able to build to a wall between the US and Mexico. I'm surprised there are so many people that think it would be so hard. The wall could easily extend below the surface to dispel tunnels and in addition to physical wall we can implement high tech sensors and even non-lethal weapons to push back any honchos that wanna try and get around the wall. As an extra measure of security we could have autonomous UAV's that fly within range of the wall to further aid repelling the onslaught of law breakers. I’m sick of all the political pussyfootin’ around. Let’s just get it done. We can’t afford to have a bunch of terrorists slippling thought with the rest of people who refuse to follow our laws.

Screw the wall - MY PLAN: MEGA MOAT 2010!The MEGA MOAT 2010 comes filled with sharks with lasers mounted to their heads and is lined with bouncing betty mines along its parameter. We'll enlist thousands of gun toting 'people of color' hating Minute Men to oversee the illegals who will, of course, dig the MEGA MOAT 2010.Current MEGA MOAT 2010 project scoped to be completed in 2020 at a cost of six Halliburton’s.Resources required: 20 Million cases of beer for the Minute Men and 13 shovels for the 22,000 illegals to share.A plan, I’m certain, found plastered upon the wall of some Republican War Room…

@ NoodleGuyThey don't want jobs...They want Aztlan.....<a class="user" href="http://www.mayorno.com/WhoIsMecha.html">http://www.mayorno.com/WhoIsMecha.html</a><a class="user" href="http://www.illegalaliens.us/aztlan.htm">http://www.illegalaliens.us/aztlan.htm</a><a class="user" href="http://www.prisonplanet.com/articles/november2005/081105callsforriots.htm">http://www.prisonplanet.com/articles/november2005/081105callsforriots.htm</a>And this is some of what was seen at last years illegal immigrant protests.<a class="user" href="http://www.mexica-movement.org/granmarcha.htm">http://www.mexica-movement.org/granmarcha.htm</a>

But we don't live in that kind of world. Never have.. Possibly never will..You are right we will eventually be living in a prison. Illegal immigration is allowed to dilute our population. The 2nd round of amnesty for illegals will be all it takes to put us past the point of no return. But that is all the better for those who are planning this.. As civil tensions wind up a military style crackdown on populations will be in order.PNAC, CFR, UN, UNSECO... Naah don't worry bout them or the politicians who support them.

@fatmaxYou are a bit misinformed. Take a look at this entry in Wikipedia:<a class="user" href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mexica_Movement">http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mexica_Movement</a>The Mexica Movement has nothing to do with Aztlan. They reject that concept. The want Anahuac which is what modern day colonials call North America. Aztlan is only the southwestern portion of Anhuac. Whether you agree with their views or not, at least try not to misinform people. Mexica is also non-violent and has a very long-term (multi generational) goal in mind.

Perhaps we can do like the rail roads and hire those Chinese to build our wall, then when they are done we can deport them.

@VinceNoirSo the land they want is more than just the South West.. Interesting.Your Wikipedia link says the Mexica Movement is non-violent. But.. In protesting the Minuteman Project there have been reports out of Texas of protesters intimidating and throwing rocks at the Minutemen. They might not have been associated with the Mexica Movement at all but I am aware that there is a takeover of our country in progress.

Perhaps because I'm Canadian, I have a different attitude on this. What are the MAIN reasons America wants to keep (illegals) out? Is it job loss...even though proud Americans won't do those types of jobs. Is it because the Government can't tax them or their American employers? Is it the unrealistic fear that American society will become "watered down", which in turns suggests that TRUE Americans feel they would simply have to leave the USA and jump over it's wall into some other country?Building a wall around your country seems to me, to be a very paranoid thing to do. America is one of the wealthiest Nations on the planet...why not help your neibour to the South?
