Of those on the list that I know about personally: Cape Cod, I've been to a number of times -- very, very nice. Shenandoah is still gorgeous, even being so close to east coast population centers. Lafitte in Thibodaux is presently a mess -- not completely healed after Katrina, and then whacked again this fall by Gustave. Mammoth Cave has gotten way too touristy. Rocky Mountain near Estes is maybe my #1 pick in this list. There's *nothing* about Hot Springs you could call "enchanting." Big Bend is also high up on my own list (I love the high desert). Everglades? See one swamp, you've seen 'em all. (I live in south Louisiana.) Bryce Canyon is still pretty nice. Yosemite -- way too much smog and too many people at one time. The latter applies to Yellowstone, too.But where's Crater Lake? Where's Goat Rock at the mouth of the Russian River? Where's Carlsbad? Where's Hueco Tanks?

Odd, no Adirondacks. You'd think the largest park in America would deserve at least some mention.
