marketwatch.com — Demand for iPods so outstripped that for Microsoft's rival Zune product that even an iPod accessory was outselling Microsoft's media player. Microsoft's new Zune media player, despite heavy marketing, came in only at No. 75 on Amazon's list of 100 best-selling electronics, trailing items such as Apple's $29.99 iPod USB power adapter, at No. 65.

Look I got to use a Zune the other night, and I found it nice. The current player I own is a 20GB Zen Touch, and I am seriously considering the Zune. I'll have to look at all the gripes about it first, but as far as the interface and screen and sound quality, the Zune is great. Yes I've used iPods and they are also very nice. And the funny thing is, I like that the Zune is bigger than the iPod... I've never understood the popularity of Razr cell phones, and I like having something that isn't super small in my hand. I guess I'm the minority when it comes to the size of consumer electronics. It's probably because I am a big guy, 6'2 and have large hands. I can't stand using small cell phones and electronics.

Not to mention the fact that I count 12 different types of iPod above the single Zune entry.

pabster: "For example, Microsoft adds DRM to ALL content transferred to the Zune. This means podcasts and other plain MP3 material are wrapped in DRM as they are transferred (likely in violation of licensing agreements vis-a-vi the source material as well.)"Like I said before, this is a 100% lie. It does NOT add DRM to ANY content transferred to your zune. That is exactly the same as the iPod. I can rip my own cds and put them on the Zune and NO DRM will be added. It is pretty pathetic that the apple fanboys have resolted to spreading lies.

Very simple, the Zune isn't catching on for the holidays, which is exactly what MS wanted. Now that it doesn't they are screwed, Apple is releasing a new iPod that they have poured blood into for 5 years, and it will be like a brand new device all over again.Wait until January you will see something that makes the Zune out for what it is.. A device that en-slavens you with heavy annoying DRM (i bought one to try), and am so frustrated that I went back to my iPod. I can share the music on 5 machines, reset the subscription and share them again if needed. and share them to other iPods if I want.My Zune is sitting lonely on my desk. And no it didn't come with a power adapter either. Why would you ship a iPod or Zune with a Power Adapter? You have to sync it to a computer for music anyway, or your subscriptions or PodCasts? If you travel a lot without your notebook computer, you can buy a power adapter if you need it.I do have a power adapter for my iPod but i've used it like once, I never take it when traveling because I'm already bringing a laptop. Sorry but bundling a power adapter is wasteful and bad for the environment at least that's my opinion

The average buyer does not buy Zunes offline either!

If it helps, the Zune models ranked 5, 18 and 44 among non-Apple MP3 players at approx. 2:30pm Eastern. SanDisk (1,2,4,6 &7) and Creative (3,8,9 & 10) filled out the other top 10 spots.
