Actually, whenever I've placed an order on amazon, they inform you about the price guarantee, atleast in yourconfirmation e-mail.

I learned about this in a book I ordered from Amazon - Wikinomics, by Don Tapscott & Anthony B. Williams. One chapter actually talks about the www.refundplease.com website which monitors pricing for you (as quoted in this Slate article). The price actually dropped on the book, so I am now taking advantage of this.

I just tried this and was told that Amazon discontinued their price guarantee policy as of September 1.

I just called and was told that the price guarantee policy is only effective for 7 days, not 30 days as before.

I can confirm the 7 day policy. If I understood the man correctly the limit is either 7 days from when you order, or the day it's delivered, whichever comes first. Don't quote me because there was a bit of a language barrier.

i just called amazon about a hp laptop that dropped $78 since i bought it 2 weeks ago. i was told about the 7 day policy also. the phone rep was very nice and suggested that i just reorder it and return the old one.
