techcrunch.com — Amazon’s movie download site, called Unbox, appears to have gone live today. There’s no link yet on the front page of Amazon, but the direct link at unbox.com works. There is heavy DRM and the videos must be watched from a Windows PC.

It'll be called "iTunes+Movies" if recent product names from Apple trend correctly.

Wrong. VC1 fares quite well against H.264. Each will beat the other in some circumstances. Refer to comparison article below.http://www.eet.com/news/latest/showArticle.jhtml;jsessionid=V1ZXMPJCJ54NEQSNDLOSKH0CJUNN2JVN?articleID=184417335&pgno=4

This software is the worst piece of s**t I have ever installed on my computer. Took me several attempts just to get it to install while I clicked all the firewall pop-ups probably sending every bit of my personal information back to AMAZON. Then it crashed my computer twice, causing me to have to hard reset. AMAZON SELLS ME ON BITORRENT, thank you Amazon for renewing my appreciation for non-proprietary video. Want to kill a friends computer, burn AMAZON software to CD and give it to him with auto-run.

I dont know why people find Itunes so nice - personally i find that browsing the music store is inflexible and painfully slow. I am running it on windows though which might have something to do with it.....Does anyone know anywhere that i can easily browse the contents of podcasts and subscribe to them?

Did anyone at Amazon actually test the software?Or did they rely on Microsoft's assurance of quality? My money is on the later. Oh well, looks like we'll all being using iTunes for our download movies needs. Sorry Amazon, but high prices, brutal restrictions, and low quality is a bad formula.
