It is. I was lucky enough to go there once and it's incredible. Wish I had taken pictures as beautiful as those though!

My boss went there a couple years ago to help with tsunami relief, planting crops and such. He said where he was the entire ground was saturated with salt and would grow nothing, so they had to dig holes and fill them with clean dirt (that sounds odd ...) in order to plant the food crops. They also rebuilt shelters and green houses. I believe he returned a few months later to check on progress and do more work. His pictures from the flight in and out were spectacular - the work site was not as miserable as you'd expect, and the locals were working hard to restore their piece of paradise.

My girlfriend and her family were there christmas 2005 when then tsunami hit. She woke up to a massive rumble and her bed was floating in the room. people screaming everywhere. As the islands are only a metre or two above sea level the tsunami ripped straight through with no chance to escape. Scary s**t. Awesome place though. These pics are amazing

Beautiful photographs and I love the way you have brought the people into the shots. So often we see wonderful beaches but don't really get a feel of the place as a living community.
