No, you can tell these aren't photoshop jobs. Because they don't look like a four-year-old went at the newspaper with scissors and a bottle of Elmer's glue.
It has nothing to do with cellphones. I've seen people in South/South-Central Asian countries talking on the phone while on mopeds and even *texting* while driving their car or moped. It's mostly the lower speeds and the fact that everyone drives very defensively.Of course, when accidents do happen (usually buses), there is all hell to pay. I remember a bus falling down a mountain path because the bone-headed bus drivers were racing each other. It took *days* to rescue the remaining few and the bodies of the dead (due to the high mountains and cliff that the bus fell off of).
been there done that...I used to travel extensively through SE Asia on business, and it was common to see goods (& three generations of a family) balanced precariously on small motobikes and bicycles. A lot in Vietnam, but also Malaysia, Thailand, Indonesia & China. Accidents where all different kinds of goods end up piled together were especially entertaining for the onlookers, and sometimes the goods ended up being sold on the spot. Having said that, some of these were truly inspiring. The one with the mirror is a great shot, and the family of five was extreme.

@thespiffI don't know what it is about this particular story, but in here I'm seeing more assh**es than a protology textbook.
