flickr.com — You could do this easily in Photoshop today, but Philippe Halsman did not - this was shot live. It took 26 tries to get it over five hours - Halsman counted to four, Dali leapt, 3 assistants threw the cats, one threw the water from a bucket and Halsman's wife held the chair. Its all done in the camera.

Dali was so irreverent and "of" his time, yet so ahead of this time. These shots were groundbreaking.

He was a overrated pretentious weirdo from a time when there were no medications for whatever mental illness he had.

Really? I visit the MIA often [I live like, right behind it] and I've never noticed this picture. Interesting.

Gee, why al lthe aggression over a dissenting opinion? Not much better than the Taliban!I ask a question and get called a "douchebag", "idiot", and what have you. I think perhaps you all feel a bit embarrassed about not knowing things? Why not highlight Pythagoras' theorem? Or random Wikipedia articles? Digg certainly has an element of "news". News does not mean "current affairs news". But there has to be some element of news. I am sorry you do not agree, but calling the person who asks names is a sign of weakness.

it looks to me like all of that was a suspended room that was doped a little bit and then water was shot up through that little bit of odd flooring on the right or at least that is what would guess
