amarok.kde.org — Amarok 1.4.3 has been released with several important improvements. Playlist saving time is now many times faster, especially for large playlists. And the iTunes music sharing client support has been improved; now Amarok supports ZeroConf/Rendezvous so local music shares show up automatically.

this needs to be ported to windows immediately
chaseventersSep 5, 2006
Nah, they just need to port all the useful Windows apps to Linux. :)You'll probably get your wish at some point though, because one of the aims of KDE4 is Windows portability, and I assume Amarok (even though it is extragear) would follow.

You can customize nearly everything in amarok, just right click and go. You can even kick out the "mini" player if need be (looks like old school winamp).

if you have problems, you can always get help on irc, forums or mailing list :)

Amarok is SICK. Best app. I have used in years. Dynamic playlists are awesome.

@thepxcMplayer doesn't provide much of a library interface. The Amarok on Windows would use the Windows media libraries.

Somehow our storied got buried - if you extend the search to buried stories Amarok comes up. I wonder why that happened.

I think its a bad idea. It will make windows people stay. People who like windows stay because of the games. People who like linux one of the reasons is the great apps. Without needing linux for the apps...

I hate to say it but it's only the best music player only for audio formats. Granted it is the best audio player around, but I'm not satisfied with just that. I want something that plays ALL my media under the same roof with content rating abilities, common queue functions, media library and kick ass visualization for audio tracks. And I want it all in the same window and optionally in a separate windows.

If you want video, use VLC, or better yet Democracy Player to organize all of your internet television. http://www.getdemocracy.com/I don't mind having two separate programs, especially when each is so good at what they do. The closest I have come to finding Amarok in Windows is Foobar 2000 which requires a little bit of work to add the features you want.
