>As long they keep thinking a song is worth 99 cents people will keep finding different solutions to acquire it.It's not up to you to determine what something is worth. Don't get me wrong, I think the RIAA'a behavior is despicable, but if you don't like the price of something then don't buy it. No matter what you choose to believe, the artists are not being compensated by AllofMP3. So in essence you are making shady Russian characters rich as they do the stealing for you. If I think Porsches are too expensive does that make it OK for me to buy one from a fence at a significantly lower price? I know that people in our generation think the world owes them something and the ends justifies the means as long as it satisfies their need for instant gratification. But sometimes right and wrong are clearer than you want to believe even if it means doing without something you want. IMHO
You should try emusic.com. It works out to being about $.80 per song, they're all mp3s, and the money actually goes to the copyright holder. It's a great site unless you're really into popular music.
"It's not up to you to determine what something is worth"What??!! I thought that the consumer is who decides if a price for something is reasonable or not. It's not up to the RIAA to "decide" that everyone should buy a song for $0.99! Why does it cost about the same to buy a cd on iTunes, then to buy it for $10 at Best Buy? Shouldn't it be cheaper because the distribution costs are nearly nothing (even with the $0.0001 cost of bandwidth to transfer a CD) Just the fact that they're a monopoly, control all music, and set all of the prices, means that the consumer has no choice but to buy RIAA music or buy NO music. We're lucky to have ALLOFMP3, so we can show those bastards at the RIAA what music should really cost.
@deutWhat you are missing is that Apple really doesn't care how much you pay for songs you buy from iTunes as long as you can only play them on your iPod. The iTMS exists for the sole purpose of driving iPod sales. Since it's already been stated that Apple makes somewhere south of 5 cents on a track you should not direct your "suggestions" on price to them. The only dog Apple has in this fight is the DRM. If they could give you the entire collection of the iTMS they would, again, so long as it only played on their iPod. The price is completely the production of the RIAA. That's why there was such a battle over cost by Steve Jobs and the label execs. I'm sure Steve would love to drive the price down on all sales to $.49 but the wholesalers won't go there.
