You fems really need to STFU because there are a lot of men out here that are just as disrespected by OTHER men as you women are. It's a known fact that 99% of all men need to be put to death or locked up. and i'm sure at least 98% of all women as well. The whole planet is full of idiocracy.
"you are saying that religion has given the thumbs up to prejudice and predefined gender roles in a way that makes it ok for people to subtly force those roles on others even if they do not commit to them" No I did not say that, you did but I disagree with that statement."I'm not saying that a woman who believes she should stay at home and take care of the kids is a bad thing, or that that isn't the way people should live their lives." AgreedI'm saying that statements which imply that is the only way a woman should live are closed minded.AgreedMy comment was driven by the fact that I don't know many men who believe that. Therefore, you may be misinformed. Given the participation of women in the workforce at all levels I suspect that misogynistic attitudes must be pretty low historically speaking. There is plenty of evidence that many western institutions favor women over men if you care to find it but it is not politically expedient to point that out. Many, including myself, will make a joke about it as is evidenced by this whole thread. But having lived in Australia, and many states in America both North and South, I have rarely come across a man who believes that "a woman's place is in the kitchen" "barefoot and pregnant" or whatever. On the other hand I have met many women who denigrate men openly. But that's OK with everyone. As far as tolerance is concerned, it is interesting that we only have to extend tolerance to those of specific beliefs. I will readily admit I am intolerant of some ideas, and ambivalent to many. Just because I do not tolerate someone else's belief does not mean I would treat them differently. But I don't have any problem teaching my children that something is wrong and that it is OK to disagree with other's beliefs, but you better treat everyone with respect.
Women make less money because:A. They are far more likely than men to take maternity leave for extended periods of time (i wonder why)B. Far more likely than men to quit their job in their primary income earning years to raise familiesC. Take more vacation time than menD. Take more half days seeing doctors than men ( 3 to 1 ratio)
666 is just a number, there is nothing special about it, thinking otherwise would be totally unscientific. I use this number to scare the s**t out of idiots like you who see it as some kind of a sinister religious symbol. It is time for you to grow up and stop believing in pseudo-religious nonsense.
@MaynardJK I read an article a few years ago that suggested that maternity leave accounted for some of it because the annual time in the office less, making other candidates better choices for promotions and raises. It has nothing to do with what career choices a woman makes--and many of those "choices" are not actually choices, but more of a necessity. When the kid gets sick and someone needs to pick them up from daycare/school, it's usually the mother, not the father. At my last job, I was specifically told that I would not become a manager if I got pregnant. He said it wasn't fair to the child because of the required overtime that went along with the promotion. If I stayed there and if I had gotten pregnant, I would have seen the required overtime and duties get delegated to someone else and I wouldn't get paid as much, or I would not have been offered the promotion at all.

I see your point, too. It is very cool to be misogynous (hating the women), but it is bad to be homophobic, isn't it?
