We used to have that plane at my DZ, it's a great workhorse. The plane has no drogue, rather the pilot is more than likely throttling down the engine and using the prop much like a trucker uses engine breaking to slow down. By not using the prop to pull the plane down the pilot is slowing the decent of the aircraft to allow for the jumpers to re-enter the plane. We've done a ton of tandems at our DZ and most of the time that plane can dive far faster than any falling skydiver.
I used to jump - a lot, but I have gotten too old and fat. The funniest thing I see now is that students don't jump 'solo', they are mounted to an instructor who does the actual jump; this is like f**king using a bicycle inner tube as a condom..

having a card saying you know how to fly a plane makes you better than everyone else

i honestly don't think it is obvious that a person will fall faster than a plane in a freefall.
