Not true - The article states that the pilot told him that they "Wouldn't have made it to Japan without him", meaning to me that they were treating this as a faulty gauge problem, and were going to continue..
Ummm, who invented the "computer"? Are you referring to the "differential analyser", or perhaps the enigma machine, which pre-dates it? You would do well to remember that America did NOT invent everything. Sure, there have been some great technologies developed by the US, but don't you think that those inventors were "standing on the shoulders of giants" (of many nations) that came before them? Nothing ever happens in a "vacuum", does it? It's all dependant on those who came before; small steps, small achievements, all in a line from beginning to end. Be proud of your culture, sure, but don't discount those great non-Americans that came before you.
