Wozniak is an engineer, not a businessman. Yeah Woz made some awesome stuff, but it was Jobs who made it succesful. Wozniak is severely unqualified for the the tasks required of a CEO. That would be like having an OBGYN perform brain surgery, it just doesn't make sense.

Building your own computer always beats pre-made varieties from the big manufacturers. If you aren't into building computers, you just don't know. You're always going to find Asian companies making cheap hardware that runs at the the same speeds as the Dell or Apple specs, or higher. You spend the money you save in some areas for better AMD or Intel CPU's and ATI or nVidia video cards that are a model higher than whats offered by Apple or Dell. You buy an ultra fast Sata hard drive, the fastest model of ram on the market...Does Apple even sell a quad SLI capable computer?Specialty designed cases and monitors...Keyboards with more lights, mice with more buttons... etc.

I've heard rumors that Steve has been grooming Jonathan Ives for the handoff.

Ive is the heart led person's choice. The truth is; Jobs is a rare mix of vision and balls. Ive appears to be way too meek and shy to walk into a record company's board room and negotiate a deal.

Amend my last comment to say "one non-white and/or non-male mentioned as a possibility." I wasn't just talking about race when I made the original comment.

This is a great, relative article. Very interesting. My picks for Steve Job's successor would be in the following order: (1) Forstall, (2) Schiller, (3) Cook, (4) Ive.

Willy Wonka had a succession plan. Maybe something like that will work for Apple. Every millionth iPhone should have a golden ticket. You know the rest of the story ....
