I'd like to change that to:Be a Libertarian and realize that a lot of things that people do that you may have some personal/moral/whatever objection to are none of you f**king business. If you don't like it ignore it.

@RandomengyI think the author is trying to make a distinction between getting into a fight, and needlessly starting a fight. One is about passion, belief and picking yourself up after things don't go well, the other is about being a jerk to people.

Hmm, your first paragraph (on giving practical advice) was good, but your second paragraph (on the Republican comment)...not so good.See there are many better ways to advise someone to think independently other than "Don't be a Republican/Conservative."For example, one could say "Don't attach yourself to a political party" (because, you know, mentioning one political spectrum is kind of biased..). He could also say "Don't follow dogmas set by others simply because you believe they are like you."Or my favorite, he could simply say: "Think independently."I don't know. Maybe it's just me, but I don't see how saying "Republicans/Conservatives are evil assh**es, so don't be like them" translate to "Think for yourself." Seems to me that it's more like "Think like me."
