Adobe never ceased to work on this, so there's nothing to "return attention" to... It's just serious misrepresentation by the Digg poster who broke the original "story" about Adobe stopping the development. As everybody who bothered to read the darn blog would know, sigh.
The majority of people who pirate Photoshop are people who shouldn't even use it at the first place. People who NEED Photoshop usually buy it. One exception would be students, but usually they use it at school or get a discounted version they can continue to use after graduation anyway. The Photoshop/GIMP debate is nothing like the IE/Firefox debate, get a clue.
Mike,Since development on flash for Linux is being ramped up, will Flash version 9.5/10 for Linux be released at the same time that it is released for Windows and Mac??? or are Linux users destined to forever be second class citizens in this regard? Also, Can we expect that other Adobe software will be offered to Linux users at some point? Linux has a vast array of free open source software, but there are many home and business Linux users that would pay for good software if it was available on this platform.
@zankyYou idiot... What do you think most people use for web graphics? Adobe Photoshop. What do most people use for universal documents? Adobe's PDF file formatWhat do (some) small & big businesses use to develop websites? Macromedia DreamweaverWhat primarily web-based animation software do people use? Macromedia FlashI think the merger made perfect sense and I'm excited for things to come out of Adobe/Macromedia... just give them time; they are two HUGE companies you know...As for porting Photoshop, Dreamweaver and Flash Player 9 (let alone the Flash DK) to Linux will take time and lost of resources, so for a company in a capitalist society, they need to have a good, solid plan so that they see numbers in the green and not red.
