readwriteweb.com — Adobe Digital Editions is built on the Flash platform. Adobe's solution will work on Windows, Mac OS/X and Linux. Perhaps the biggest difference though is the range of content the Adobe product supports - PDF (obviously), XHTML, and Flask SWF for rich content.

itstime: PDF is indeed an open format (PDF/X is even an ISO standard). Adobe is adding their own additions, but you're not forced to use them, you can stick to the open base of PDF format...

Great news. Since the mid 1900's, they've been predicting the demise of paper. We seem to be finally entering that stage. You have to have a super bright sharp screen as well as lightweight, easy to use software for reading long bits of text.

Some free e-books here ... although dissapointingly no porn, gay porn nor erotica, have a look http://labs.adobe.com/technologies/digitaleditions/library/I just installed the thing, not sure how the f**k it works at first glance, you can't just drag s**t into the window, you have to add it to the library first, then click read, not so hot like that IMO, its also slower than the Adobe Reader at PDF.

Adobe sucks? Photoshop and flash 9 definately do not suck. But I had been using Foxit too. Vas Dat Bloatenzievenomenon guttuntometoAdobe recognizes the beef wrt Acrobat, therefore this (from the FAQ)Also:Will a Linux version of Digital Editions be available?Yes. We are still evaluating the Linux version timing for Digital Editions.More features coming.****loads fast...This reader is pretty cool.I like the black. downladed sample...nice thumbnail.. It returned to the page i was on. No way to delete from library in viewer.Docs are stashed in my documents/my digital editions...No way to move it...Settings brings up only familiar flash setup, Won't play/download youtube stuff...No surprise there.Very handsome though.....

You do know that one reason its a memory and CPU hog is it based off of Postscript. Which is one big mess in its own right.
