iTunes wasn't created to fix any overarching compatibility. It was created to make it very easy to do a very limited set of things in a very limited environment. Its the Apple way.

Try Amarok, it's a great KDE based music manager similar to itunes, but much better. Has pretty good podcast support too. It supports the ipod, and other mp3 players.

@anjinashOn the other hand, I despise iTunes with every fiber of my being. It chokes on my 30,000+ mp3s stored on my network drive,Why in the HELL do you have over 30000 mp3s?There is no way you can listen to them all. You must be distributing, and THAT my friends is why the RIAA is up in arms. My piddly little collection of 200 or so (that I actually listen to) is small potatoes.
