Given, Jobs is very taciturn as far as sociality is concerned, it is very much possible that he may be donating to an institution tacitly and on the other hand Bill is just spending for the sake of his fame and name. Placing a person in the category of introverts just because his name doesnot appear in the list of so called top-donators doesnot justify the situation!

@digitalarcanum: OSX is more secure, don't fool yourself. The basic design of Unix is inherently more secure, and you don't have to do much to "lock it down." Windows has so many hacks and work-arounds to keep it as secure as it is. This isn't a dig at Windows or a plug for OSX or UNIX; it's just the truth.

I have a question. How many people in here that are complaining of monopolistic companies have actually TRIED ANY Linux OS? Im guessing MAYBE a handful. You sit back and whine and complain that MS is a monopoly or MS fans say MAC is a monopoly. Well...here's a thought, maybe if you really mind that much just TRY Linux. You dont even have to install it. Run a live cd, from one of the MANY distros that offer them. Ubuntu, PCLINUXOS, Fedora (although I'm not sure if Fedora has made their live cd yet). But here's the problem...MAC AND MS have screwed up things for FOSS. Because what it all boils down to for all MAC fans and all Windows fans...you are a fan of it because you are familiar with it and it feels safe to you. Now by feeling safe I dont mean a secure machine. I mean you can poke around with things witout the fear of messing them up. Thats fine. I was a long time Windows user...all my life. Until a buddy of mine turned me on to Linux and within a matter of a couple days on Arch Linux I was hooked. Minimal pop-ups, no more viruses, no more spyware, adware BS. Im a huge music enthusiast...I like to have all my music on the computer to listen to while Im browsing the web or whatever I might be doing. Point? I have 40gb of music on my hard drive and am still as fast and stable as ever. I challenge you...I DARE you to put 40gb of music on your Windows machine. I ran XP for a while and anything more than about 5gb, and the machine is basically crippled. Folks all Im asking is to give Linux a chance. Because there is a wide variety of distributions...and I've found it to be a truly elite OS. Download the iso images for Ubuntu or PCLinuxOS or Fedora...I name these because they are currently the most popular distros. Check out all the distros here...www.distrowatch.com. Give it one shot...if you hate, youve lost nothing. But in the meantime something that truly has great potential is being buried under under MAC and Windows, because its all that anyone knows.

Steve Jobs is an assh**e, thats already been established. On the other hand he has started 3 quite successful businesses. Apple, of course, which he also resurrected.Pixar, the company that disney hopes will save them.NeXT, the chosen system by Tim Berners-Lee to be the first web server. It is also what OS X is based off of.I don't know if Steve is a nice guy, but he has landed some pretty large landmarks in his life.

If they were both awesome, then we'd have no one to rant about. How boring would that be?

"The latest talk about patents that Linux infringes is an attempt at Microsoft to stop GPLv3 from going forward, because they believe it will harm interoperability between open and closed source software."Why don't they say that, Instead of "you stole our ideas, we'll meet you in court" ?And how would GPLv3 harm interoperability ?

Religious charities don't just build "giant mega churches"Look at any soup kitchen or homeless shelter and I almost 100% guarantee you that it is church owned. A donation to a religious charity most definitely still counts.Get your head out of the sand. Religious people are less selfish than Atheists. Get off the one track in your mind and consider other viewpoints.
