Starting in 1976 with Carter, every four years the Establishment seems to find a politicians who is, in reality, a typical politician but who is little-enough known that they can market him as "New!" and "Fresh!" and "Different!") even though he is actually "Old!" and "Stale!" and "More of the same!'. Carter was followed by Anderson in 1980, Hart in '84, Dukakis in '88, Perot in '92 and '96, McCain and Bradley in 2000, and Howard Dean in 2004. No, he's just a typical politician. He has no principles and is willing to say or do anything to get elected and stay in power. He may be a little more dangerous than most because he is better at slithering around the issues and appearing to say something when he is saying nothing, but that is what all politicians do, try to be everything to everybody.
