That's exactly why I "invested" in a Macbook Pro two years ago...before, I was buying computers every two years or so, but I fully expect this Macbook Pro to last me another two years or so at least. So, two laptops at $1000, or one at $2000? I'll pick the higher quality machine.
Isn't it just a support thing? As of today there are zero virii spreading on macs. Yes, it's totally technically possible to write now. Except that as of today, there is just none. Not to mention spyware ... It's probably a wise choice to have all your students or coworker to use macs. Same could be said for Linux, but I guess administration issues still make the platform less attractive.

It's not Mac only, it's Unix only. Developers just throw a good looking front end on a Command Line app and you think it's mac only.

Certain wirless N technology works better with mac notebook's airport cards than competing wireless cards that come with PCs.
