The purpose of using linux isn't to "run away from microsoft." the purpose is to run towards open standards, and the flexibility of having the source code of your os and applications at your disposal.
It did come off as a bit arrogant sorry guys. I didn't mean to rip on hobbiests that just like to f**k around with pixels, I was just trying to state that none of these things are in any way a viable alternative to Photoshop.
It depends what you mean by "no vector support". GIMP can export it's paths into svg files and can also import SVGs as raster images. If you were referring to Paint.Net, then yeah. It sucks like that.

Go take a look at the plugins you can get for gimp. Both are now available.

if I have ever been certain of anything, I am certain that there is/was Adobe Photoshop for Sun Solaris.
