pbs.org— A giant octopus takes on a shark in a video like something from a horror movie, Octopuses are remarkable creatures, and are much more intelligent than you may think.

Saying that they are more intelligent then you think is an understatment. A friend who is big into salt water tanks has some amzing stories about Octopi climbing out of their tank and goign a few feet to another tank where their live food is kept...feasting...and then goign back to their tank. And yes these are tanks with tops.
"I happen to be a marine biologist."The ocean was f**ked long before I got there. Its my job to pick up the pieces and educate little s**ts like you, so you don't run around with your thumb up your ass spouting crap you don't understand. Leave that to chrisitianity or join up with themAs for the comment about it killing multiple sharks, you'd really have to look at the species of shark its killing. Could be a dog shark or thresher i.e. something tiny or with a small mouth. If it goes and beats the crap out of say a blue shark or lemon shark, then that's worth noting. So that's WTF is wrong with me you little c**kfag.>>About them attaking with their beak. Don't their sucker-thingies >>have like teeth and venom? Some species have venom like the ones in Australia ( a haven for dangerous animals). The shock here is misplaced. First and foremost, not every octopus is a california ocotopus, Ocotopods like the Octopus dofleini ( which also chills on the pacific cost) are an average of 16 feet.Still at that size A tiger or Dusky or Great white would own the thing. Ocotopods are natures perfect retreaters. They can squeeze in between crevices and cracks much smaller than thier bodies circumference because they lack the hard outer shell other cephalopods ( squid etc do)To the best of my knowledge there is no poison tentacle thing going on with Ocotopods ( though we may very well find one) there are posionous ones like I stated before, but they are tiny. However if they do bite you you most likely will die as there is no antivenom in australia and the sodium channel blocking effects will stop you from breathing. Just like in a puffer fish. That's all I can think of off the tap of my head. If you want more info get the f**k of your lazy ass raise some money and go to college. Maybe I'll TA one of your classes and we can laugh while throw sea urchins in your eyes.
>>Got to love the marine biologist that spends his time bad mouthing >>random strangers on the internet. What you fail to realize is that this took me all of three minutes. Shooting down idiots with their half assed attempts at knowledge, who parrot beliefs like they are truths is a huge part of being a scientist. So sit back, take notes, and keep your f**king mouth s**t. If this offends you go post about it on your blog in some unhappy coloured text.
In a way, that really shouldn't have surprised them. Consider that, while nobody has ever seen one alive, scientists know that giant squid attack whales by evidence found on carcasses, and scars on live whales. So, really, why is this situation significantly different? The only dangerous end of a shark is its mouth. Stay away from that and be able to control its movements, as an octopus that size is well able to do, and taking out a shark isn't all that hard. Food is food.
I found a bunch of shark teeth on the beach last month,,,maybe an octopus sqeezed the teeth right out of him....oh the things we think we knew that we don't know at all,,,makes ya think about thoughts.
Frickin' hell... Why can't RealPlayer just buffer the entire frickin' thing then play it? Why, instead, must it stop every five seconds then buffer again for 20 seconds?Look, RealPlayer, I'm happy to wait for a minute or two for you buffer the entire video, ok? I don't mind you putting it all in my cache or something. I'll go and do something else while it loads. I can handle that, I can deal with that. If I got a choice between epilepsy and a punched-in LCD screen and a reasonable wait for the entire thing to buffer, what do you think I'm going to choose?

Being a know-it-all marine biologist doesn't entitle you to be an ass.
