articles.latimes.com — Most crushingly, the war has done serious damage to what is plainly Russia's top foreign policy priority: the reestablishment of what the Russian president has called a "privileged" sphere of influence in former Soviet states. Some analysts say Russia's postwar isolation is fueling instability.

I dont think Moscow is feeling any more out in the cold than usual, Western media has been hatin on Russia since forever. Even from here in Hong Kong it was obvious what happened. Georgia attacked first in the dead of night, from the wiki "During the night of 7 to 8 August 2008, Georgia launched a large-scale military attack against South Ossetia". Georgia deserved to have their ass handed to them but the Western media who keeps whipping up the BS deserves far worse. Hope the ratings were worth it.Even more embarrasing for the American media was the Russians only stayed for a few months then left. Theres a little lesson in that.

As if Things Weren't Bad Enough, Russian Professor Predicts End of U.S. <a class="user" href="http://online.wsj.com/article/SB123051100709638419.html" rel="nofollow">http://online.wsj.com/article/SB123051100709638419 ...</a>"But it's his bleak forecast for the U.S. that is music to the ears of the Kremlin, which in recent years has blamed Washington for everything from instability in the Middle East to the global financial crisis. Mr. Panarin's views also fit neatly with the Kremlin's narrative that Russia is returning to its rightful place on the world stage after the weakness of the 1990s, when many feared that the country would go economically and politically bankrupt and break into separate territories."This sounds more like the "Anti-Western taunts and propaganda (that) crammed state media."

Unless China, India and Brazil make some important changes to their domestic policy, they will themselves be crushed under the weight of civil turmoil. It is already happening in two of the countries you mentioned, and they have not yet even emerged. They have potential, but poor decisions could end that.
