triggerstreet.com — To those that wonder about the significance of a writers strike happening when many out there think that the vast majority of Hollywood movies suck, one WGA writer on strike talks candidly about the elephant in the room and about an idea that could drastically change the way Hollywood and its writers do business in the future.

ummmm i think this solitary act he speaks of is the artist's vision. and if you think theres still art in film i wanna know what movies your watching. because these carbon copy, watered down scripts that are making it to my big screen have no artistic value or merit. there might be something rare that slips through the cracks or maybe a hint of cinematography or some other dieing method of film that makes it out there, but its been so long and I'm too tired from this perpetual media overload to recognize it. i think as the consumers of Hollywood's media we have become too complacent with the quality of Hollywood defecation , and that this problem is as much our fault as anyones! don't go see bad movies, Hollywood will eventually have to stop making them.......... but we wont. luckily theres a few of these Hollywood writers who have a little bit of there artistic integrity left and sound like there gonna fight to return the heart and soul back to a once beautiful artistic medium.kudos to you ag vogler

Wow. This guy is so incredibly wrong, I'm surprised he has the mental ability to feed himself, let alone use a keyboard.Hollywood is not filled with the intelligent people that he claims. I'm not surprised he thinks they're intelligent -- he's not really bright enough to know the difference. Rather, Hollywood is filled with whores. Whores don't have to be intelligent -- they just have to make their "product" sufficiently attractive and available to screw people out of their money.

Its true - nearly all Hollywood movies are s**t. Even the so-called blockbusters are seldom better than just 'OK'. Time HW took a good look at itself and instead of self-congratulatory ego-wanking did something about it. Here's a test - pick any DVD at random and watch it. Spend 90 minutes watching random clips on youtube. Case proven I'd say!

There are things to keep in mind. First off, it takes a long time to come up with a script that you can sell for that money, and it's not like he's selling one a month. He may not sell one for another 3-5 years.Second, most writers work in television. They may make around $100,000 in a season, but in the grand scheme it doesn't work out to much. They pay 10% to their agent and 15% to their manager (necessary if you want another job!) then union dues. Then, the show they work on may get cancelled and they may not find work right away, so the end up having to spread that remaining $70,000 over two, maybe three years. Most writers are not as rich as you think they are.And as to you assertion that if you are unemployed for years, something is not right.... thats not so true in this industry. The creator of Desperate Housewives is famous for having been poor and unemployed for years before he got his show. He was unemployed for years, but it clearly wasn't because something wasn't right. It is essentially a freelance industry and is very fickle, which is why adequate compensation may seem like a lot to outsiders.

The majority of people still don't care about good storytelling or anything that has a resemblance of depth of character. They want famous titties, big booms and helicopter.People with taste are and will be a minority<a class="user" href="http://download.paramegsoft.com/">http://download.paramegsoft.com/</a>
