i found it's best to only do these kinds of things with specialized rigs. if you have a gaming rig or a 3d modeling / graphics rig along with a general use pc, it's best to leave the general use pc alone and use specialized installations for the other rigs.

You must have missed all the windows vista ad's.I said disable it if it sounds useless, but be careful because it might disable some windows vista "features".The windows vista ad's said "the WOW starts now" and "Experience the WOW" etc...

Nope. By the way, svchost means Service Host. It's a service to run services that weren't coded as services, basically. Since it's the only actual service, there's no way to disable only some of what it does.

Of course Process Explorer and Autoruns are superb tools, as is everything from Sysinternals. If this was a year or two ago, though, the comment would not have been dugg down. But since then, Microsoft purchased Sysinternals, so now all of a sudden, the tools aren't worth s**t and therefore the comment must be dugg down.Stick with the Anti-Microsoft party line if you want to comment on Digg.
