As an actual serious reply, the transformers are built, but soulless until given a 'spark'. AFIK they can't produce new sparks any more, since they threw off their evil overlords and the technology that produces sparks was lost or destroyed.That makes each death rather important and even more devastating. They can't reproduce themselves. (Though they can transfer a spark from one chassis to another.)
