joedolson.com — Sometimes companies want to change the look of their site just because they are bored with it or tired with the look. However, in my mind, just changing the appearance of a site is not sufficient reason to do that kind of work. A website redesign is about creating a better website.

Looks like his server needs a redesign ;) Dugg Mirror: <a class="user" href="http://duggmirror.com/design/A_Redesign_Isn_t_About_Design/">http://duggmirror.com/design/A_Redesign_Isn_t_About_Design/</a>

Not only that but it seems to me that while his site is usable his design is rather 'meh.' Kettle calling pot names and all.....

plus the actual visual aesthetics of his site and all the links in his portfolio looks as if they were designed by a 12 year old learning html

BS...visual impact can make a huge difference in how people perceive your organization. If it already functions well, that's the last thing you want to change as that will most disrupt existing customers that are already used to how things work.

Somebody just got their order of on sale "web 2.0" books from Amazon. Thanks for making me remember all the web "design" books I wish I never read.

Its blog spam when it appears on Digg and offers little usefull information in it. It doesn't have to come from a big media corporation to be good and useful. Also, posting your own blog is kind of passe on Digg, But, heck, if it gets this much attention then more power to you, everyone else is doing it.

I agree. It's probably the worst redesign of a site with that large an audience I've ever seen.

Original Post accidentally conflates "design" with "graphic/visual design". "Design" encompasses technical architecture, usability/information design, etc.
