somehow i suspect this article is designed to make us not demand faster speeds.....the telcos want to continue to govern our access speeds, it means big bucks to them!! i can have basic DSL for $15 a month or get so-called "PRO" just 1.5 megs faster and have to pay $30Admit it, they want you to suffer with basic.
The 100Mbps connection is very common in here in Sweden. I personally have 100Mbps connection and my brother and most of my friends get their apartments upgraded to the 100Mbps connection in the last few months. Any way many hundred Mbps connection will be reality around the globe soon in few years even if they dont have the infrastructure needed (fiber optics) to provide such speeds thanks to Ericsson's new high speed mobile broad band which will allow people to connect at 100-300Mbps
What a about a country like Burma still running at 56KB/s for most of the users?? Internet connection would cut off when some call your phone, as they are still using a modem. I'm happy with what I have in US. As a casual home user, what are you really going to do with 100MB/s??? Other than you might get faster downloads and watch HD movies, I don't see any benefit. Ask your self what it is that you cannot do with current speed???? To me I can do anything!
Thats a bit short sighted(and just inaccurate in some cases). Games transmit very little data because they are forced to. If there was the bandwidth there would be games sucking it up. You could certainly support a lot more players directly interacting if you had more bandwidth. Ping isn't what slowed down Ironforge.
Well In Sweden we don't do the whole quota thing. Any ISP that introduced a quota here at this point would effectively knock themselves out of the market with that move.

You could download 168.87TB on a 100mbps connection in 20.4945636 days. Have fun in Sweden, I lived there for 7 years and I did.
