Sorry for your loss... I've had two dogs (a mother and daughter) pass away from health issues/old age. The mother died when I was a senior in high school (got her as a present when I was 7 too), and the daughter died at the beginning of my senior year in college. The best thing to do is to get a new puppy. Seriously.

Yes it is probably true that this (possibly fictional) 6 year old loved his dog and believed the dog loved him back. I never disputed that. I can not believe you are still stuck on that. I thought I made myself perfectly clear that that was not what I was arguing.Let me see if I can make it a bit simpler for you with this example:Little Billy: Sally is a poopy head. She eated poop until her butt exploded.You: Wow there is a lot of truth to that.Me: No there isn't.You: Well it is quite clear that Billy doesn't like Sally.Me: So?You: Do you deny the truth that Billy hates Sally?Me: No, but that's not a "truth" I was denying.You: You are just not able to understand any non-literal truths.Sure Billy's statement contains information (i.e. the information that he dislikes Sally), but this is quite different than truth. If we assume for a second we want to call this kind of information "truth", then EVERY sentence is true, because every sentence contains information.If I said "Barack Obama is possessed by Satan", that would then be true. Even if Barack Obama is NOT, it is true because it contained the information that I don't like Obama.We can change the definitions of words to whatever we like. I would prefer to restrict their definitions to ones that do not completely destroy their meaning, thereby making them useless. Why even have a word for truth if EVERYTHING is true.I don't know why this is so hard for you to comprehend.Your perversion of the word truth to be "anything meaningful" is intellectually infantile.Also, I have said I am not arguing that literal truth is the only kind of truth. I am only claiming that your definition of truth is confused to the point of absurdity. I even gave an example of a non-literal truth in my last comment.
