nikon.bungie.org— A fan calling himself Gravemind has written a massive (45,000 words) look at Halo and Halo 2, with an eye towards making Halo 3 a better game. This article is right on the money!

I think he's completely wrong on most things. Halo 1 was a great game and I did well at it, but all these things he's complaining about in halo 2 make the game harder and more diverse. Like being able to jump higher so it's harder to aim at your opponent = requires more skill to hit them. Also if someone ducks out because of no fall damage and you don't get the kill that makes the game harder not easier. You have to go after them. I think most of these people that put down halo 2 for its changes and say it requires no skill have given up too early on Halo2 and obviously haven't mastered it. There is counter measures to someone "spraying and praying" and also to "someone camping with the power weapons". Again I think these things make halo 2 harder and require more skill then halo 1. Learn to deal with them rather then giving up and making excuses. Oh and the bitch about melee lunges. Realistic? No. Fun? Hell yes! Does dropping one of your weapons at the perfect time to get a melee kill require skill? Yes!Also another thing about halo 2 is the online play. See when you have the ease of getting online and playing against others across the country you start running into a ton of truly skilled players. This immediately makes everyone think the game requires no skill because in their eyes compared to halo 1 there are so many more skilled players. Really the reason that it seems that way to them is because matchmaking works so well and they get matched up with people of their own skill level rather then their buddies in a system link halo 1 game. Bungie does need to make a xbox live compatible halo 1 unchanged for the people like this guy that can't master halo 2.
