We use this at work, it's great.I forget the name, but there is another program you can install to go with this to update the installers/definitions on your drive automatically.

MiniPE XT on a USB drive is all you need. Now you can even load it on a key larger than 4GB.http://minipe.orgMiniPE is the true computer repair kit. It has practically everything you need plus, if you run it on USB key, you can update AV and Antispyware definitions (and much more). Also, to visualize your directories, I prefer Overdisk over any other utility. I don't know why this utility isn't more popular. I've been using it for years yet it hasn't even crashed on me once, despite the beta 0.11 version.http://www.snapfiles.com/get/overdisk.html

hummm... they are not hosting it anymore? Confirmed virus?

Its a false positive. Anything that shows as a virus, Google it and you'll find its not. Its like a locksmith with lockpicking tools and a cop saying they are criminal tools. It seems to only be BitDefender that does the false positive. All other AV's know they are legitimate programs.

For working on Windows systems, especially NTFS file systems, ABSOLUTELY NOTHING beats Michael K.H. Au-Yeung's Super Rescue CD or DVD. It is the Knoppix of the Windows world and beats all of these hands-down! The only thing on it that I don't like is ERD Rescue Commander - seriously, WTF is that thing meant to do?!? It serves absolutely no purpose and is not good for anything! it is useless and lame. But the REST of the tools are awesome! Khauyeung is based on Hiren's Ultimate Boot CD but adds a lot more to it! Especially the 1 GB DVD version. **IF** YOU can find a downloadable burnable image of this! Last edition was made in 2004. Best bet is to look for this on http://www.ISOHunt.com/Also a super pack of incredible utils is Techie'z Toolkit - AWESOME!!!!Guido'Z supposedly makes decent USB key drive tools too..I also love Knoppix 5 DVD but I wish they would make a CD version of it for those of us without DVD drives on our laptops!!I wish I had links for all of these but your best bet is searching P2P forums for those names.

Have you ever tried JPSoft's 4DOS or 4NT? It far surpasses anything Microsoft could ever have done with the plain ol' DOS batch language. It is like a poor man's implementation of the Unix Bourne-Again Shell (bash) for PC lamers. 4DOS / 4NT rocks!!!http://www.JPSoft.com/

PC Repairs in my opinion needs to be solved by a person who has a good understanding of hardware and software. It's all well and good placing some utility over a system with damaged files and it giving a report what to fix but only to cause more problems. A great PC Repair place is here http://www.pcrepairslondon.co.uk/ they have an in depth understanding of software and hardware and really do challenge just how good these utilitys really are.
