Inaccurate and also "buried" here. what sucks? the fact that you cant read any of the over 200 comments stating that this article is inaccurate, or that you cant find the link to the free version of 7.5?
Dude you are crazy. I have found the link in all five computers I have updated with absolutely no problem at all. And I have done so by a couple different methods. The first was thru the prompt I got from AVG. The next two were from google searches. The final two were a direct bookmark to the website.
The point is the link that popped up when I started up this morning took me to http://grisoft.com/doc/1 and not http://free.grisoft.com/doc/1. Since you have the free version, it should take you to the free version. At any rate, in my opinion finding the free version for the novice isn't as easy as it should be. Also, it should be easy to get to the free version from grisoft.com. The people that get fooled by this are people like you and I. But people like a neighbor of mine. He asked my opinion of which anitivirus software program alternatives he had. I told him I use the free version of avg. A few days later he told me it looks like they don't offer a free version so he had to pay.I know from past experience he's not a moron when it comes to searching for stuff.I stand by my opinion that while the free version isn't hard to find when you know where to look, it is still too confusing for the unititiated.Perhaps it's some sort of darwinian thing that those not savvy enough to find the free version should have to pay.And am I mistaken? Or, did there used to be a path on the main grisoft.com page to get to the free version? I don't see one now.
