I already pay $59 a month for iphone edge service. It would be great to upgrade to 3G for the same monthly price - although I'd have to find a used 3G phone.
If there's one thing that AT&T fears, it's competition. Is anyone here old to enough to remember the bulls**t they pulled in the 1980s that got them split up?If you forget history, you're doomed to repeat it.
For all the free-market loving people out there, we actually live under tyranny of the telecom industry. You name it ATT, Verizon etc., none of these carriers give us the freedom to choose the telephone that we want or the service that we want. I'm fed up with ATT, but I hate Verizon, you so all i'm left with is to settle for a small carrier that has little coverage where I live. Is a no win situation.
AT&T's 3G service IS the fastest available. You're confusing the capacity problems they're having in high density areas (NYC & San Francisco mainly) with service speed. Verizon's so-called 3G service is generally as slow as AT&T's EDGE network.
Dug down event further for the source being TheStreet.com - aka Jim Cramer! That ass-clown has been repeatedly shown to try to influence stock prices with groundless rumors and predictions, particularly with Apple stock.
