techdirt.com — While those who like to claim that the US broadband market is more competitive than it really is like to point to the rise of 3G wireless networks as proof, they almost always ignore the fact that those 3G networks come with insanely restrictive terms of service, that allow the providers to cut users off for almost any activity outside of email.

That's interesting and all, but P2P applications work just fine on 3G networks. I never once had a problem with the Blizzard patching for WoW.

I don't CARE about the costs and bandwidth of cellular networks. If they offer 'unlimited' data plans then I expect an UNLIMITED data plan. If their infrastructure can't handle it, then they shouldn't offer it. 3g is sounding lamer & lamer everyday.

That computer you are using to make this lame post? Guess what, it was made by a corporation. Did you build it yourself? The the parts were made by a corporation. That chair your sitting your fat ass on? Made by a corporation. Those shoes your wearing? Made by a corporation. DIGG is a corporation. If it weren't for corporations, you would be sitting on the floor in a mud hut.

Doesn't AIM connect to and only transfer data with a master server, effectively making it not peer to peer?I could be wrong but I think that's how OSCAR works.

Sadly, if that happens I don't expect many VOIP clients like Gizmo and Skype to have free PC to PC calls anymore, if using their clients becomes more popular than the POTS system.

There is no cable company, CLEC, or wireless company offering voice in your area....That's called competition.
