consumerist.com — Tiffany's cellphone was stolen right before she got on a chartered sailboat for a week of vacation. When she got back, AT&T told her she was responsible for the entire week of soft core porn downloading that the thief had enjoyed during the time she was away.

When you lose things, do you instantly have a sense that tells you "Oh no, I've lost something?"No. You go to look for it and assume you misplaced it for about a couple days, then you realize that you f**king lost it.

Yeah. I am sick of people who won't help themselves and then when they don't get their way scream 'it's so unfair'. Seriously. Your phone is gone for a week and you didn't think to report it? This is common knowledge. If your credit card was stolen would you have left it a week to report that stolen too?Idiot.

I lost my phone, the guy racked up a bunch of charges by downloading all kinds of crap. I got my bill, called ATT and they removed all charges immediately. This girl was probably being a whiney bitch.

Someone has to pay for that stuff?? So what exactly is the actual cost of data that gets sent to your phone? It's not like someone bought a TV that cost a $1000 to make, we're talking about data... ones and zeros. There is no real cost. It's completely arbitrary. It costs AT&T nothing to reverse the bill.

Yeah, thanks assh**e. I'm a single mother with two kids who has way more important things to pay for than music downloads. Which is why I DON'T DOWNLOAD MUSIC. Which is why I am not paying for the charges of downloading music.

Why would you think anyone else should be to blame for it?

You are welcome.More important things to pay for?Like an iphone?Obviously responsibility isn't your strong point.

I actually work for AT&T and while they aren't my carrier I have to say some customer expect way to much from a wireless company. AT&T out of all other carriers probably provides the most credits to customers, granted they take a little responsibility for calling in. Tmobile wouldnt grant a credit for downloads when your phone stops working and you're forced to get another (within 30 days of the buyers remorse policy) Sprint will cancel your account if you even try asking for credits. Verizon won't grant a credit for internet downloads when you clearly have an OPT-OUT of internet features on your account. And they'll admit that they see that opt out. But no, no credit! If you call to suspend your account, AT&T takes your word that you didnt do the usage up to SEVEN DAYS before the phone was stolen. If she is being told that she is responsible for the usage, I have to ask...how long did she wait? There ARE phones on cruises she really should have thought it over instead of expecting her wireless company to believe her and do everything for her.I have had MANY of these calls from customer and we DO credit these charges granted the claims seem valid. If she whined saying my phone was stolen a month ago what are you doing to do about it we'll literally assume she did the downloads herself. Instead of expecting companies to baby you take some responsibility for your products. If you lose your phone, call AT&T and have it suspended. Whoever has it won't be able to use it under your account. Better yet, password protect your phone so you don't even have to worry about that in the first place.BETTER YET.. stop being irresponsible and take care of your valuables. Stop acting like big wireless companies are at fault because you're too irresponsible to take care of your things, or being too irresponsible to let them know when something like this DOES happen so they can assist you.
