This won't show up until 2010 at the earliest, so don't expect the next iphone to feature this.

Plus - in an embedded system, you don't have the CPU sitting alone in a socket like in a PC. It's on the same die with its peripherals, and oftentimes other cores, such as DSPs, 3D accelerators, codec accelerators, etc. Storage (internal flash memory) is frequently layered in the same package (chip) too.

^ There are countless touchscreen devices available and Apple aren't suing anyone either..I'm beginning to think that no-one actually reads articles instead just opting to regurgitate sensationalist blogspam titles..Apple have never said they're suing Palm. Tim Cook simply said that they have patents (like all tech companies) and will defend themselves if someone rips off their IP. Ed Colligan said at the TW-T&T conference, that they have "no issues with Apple".Patents are used as a form of intermediary currency between competing firms. All tech companies have them, they are rarely enforced instead being used to mark territory and shared under the table. The patent system isn't the best, but it's the only one available. They don't stifle innovation, they mark territory and you can't blame any firm for playing the only game available. It is the prerogative of patent attorneys to mark out every possible IP example in order to have something to barter with.Once again, Apple have not and did not attempt to patent 'multitouch' (you can't patent that anymore than you can 'singletouch').They are not and have not said they are going to sue Palm for IP infringement. They are suing Psystar for copyright infringement and are in-turn, being counter-sued for anticompetitive business practices.Picsel, a Glaswegian firm responsible for fast redraw tech (amongst other things) available in a variety of handsets (Palm, Nokia, Motorola, LG etc.) are suing Apple amongst many other manufacturers for apparently infringing upon their IP which, is purported to be present in over 250m handsets worldwide."The reason you do that is to have a defensive position. It's like two little porcupines going around, and you don't want to touch each other because you might get stung. You peacefully coexist and everything's OK and you keep working together. We're very respectful about people's intellectual property, we believe we're huge innovators and have been for a lot of years and that this product has an enormous number of innovations in it. If something does happen there, we do have the portfolio, we think to defend ourselves and to be successful doing that. But nothing's happened to date, so we're really just focused on getting the product out the door."- Ed Colligan at the TW-T&T Conference on Palm's Pre and their current IP stalemate with Apple.

They need to have a core specifically control phone functions so you can always push a button and the phone goes straight to its main function with no lag!

wow all you iphone lovers damn, your phone lacks some of the most simple and basic features even free phones have so have fun with your fad phone, I prefer however to be using a phone that DOES have multiple cores and is multiple thread capable and can even be made to send picture messages!!! isnt that a novel idea? oh wait... its been done for years, so why cant the "best phone ever" do this? how bout copy paste? how bout bluetooth data? how bout a decent camera? video anyone? what about a big one, GPS, come on now the phone your looking for is available and it is called the G1. Its multiple core 7201 chipset has one core handle apps and ui while the other is dedicated to the cell radios and modem operations. oh and it can do all those things the iphone cant along with added functionallity everyday by the app developers who can actually make decent apps using all aspects of hardware, sorry iphoners your stuck with tip calculators and an ass load of games. the iphone is really a cool phone if you live in 2006 i however happen to live in 2009 and prefer to not live in the past. cant wait for the ear (or eye) raping im gonna take for this post lol... sheesh fanboys settle down your only out 199 and stuck with an outdated phone for 2 years... its not that bad... lol
