ap.google.com — McCain & Palin summon antidemocratic images of a communist state to attack Obama's tax plan and his comment about spreading the wealth. But in August 2008, Palin said "And Alaska we're set up, unlike other states in the union, where it's collectively Alaskans own the resources. So we share in the wealth when development of these resources occur."

The problem is her blatant hypocrisy....accusing Obama of something she is proud to have occurring in the state she governs.

Uniformed I don't think so. First my mother lived with my wife and I because her SS# was nowhere near enough for her to get by on unless things like eating, clothing, electric and housing don't mean anything to you. Her monthly check was about $721 you do the math. And your missing the entire point. The problem isn't the services it is the mismanagement that has went on and on for many years through many administrations. You call me self centered and I would like to thank you for that. I am self centered in that I believe it is my responsibility to take care of my family and myself. I do not need or want or presume that you or anyone else should assume MY responsibilities. You called me insensitive and I thank you for that as well. I have enough to be sensitive about with my own life family and friends to be sensitive about you. Likewise I do not expect you are anyone else to be sensitive to me as it is not your job to do so. Obama and McCain are both idiots and I vote for Constitutionalists Party or maybe Libertarian.

@EffYoo: I know exactly what's going on. I took enough econ classes for a minor. What you fail to grasp is the distinction between "socialism" and "taxation."

How did you find this thread? I wanted another reply from the "dodo" who finds me laughable. At any rate, I'm glad you have pulled off the Ctrl+V maneuver. I don't know if you wrote any of that.... it's fairly well written and "your" reference to corporate welfare is relevant... although it isn't, "in fact", sole property of the GOP. "Facts" and beliefs are not one in the same... Digg is awash with "factual" error. Subsidies have been around forever, and both parties can lay claim to that Frankenstein. Corporate bailouts and propping up the airlines are also terrible policy. Again, both parties have their fingerprints on those. Bad companies should be allowed to fail... regardless of their size. Your reality is altered. Child Tax credits do NOT redistribute from the childless to those with children. It's a tax credit, less tax that they owe. It didn't come to them from somebody else. They paid it in and received it back. There's no transfer there."We need to spread the wealth around" implies transfer to me.

Just to clarify the "you can't get tax cuts if you don't pay taxes." Actually you can. There are two types of tax credits: refundable and non-refundable. If a particular tax credit is non-refundable, you only get to take advantage of up to the amount you owe/paid. Refundable credits, you get the full advantage whether you owe/paid taxes or not.Example: Assume you paid $1,000 in income tax for the year and you do not owe any more tax. There is a non-refundable tax credit of $7,000 for buying a hybrid car and you purchased one this year. You could get $1,000 of that $7,000 on your refund. Now assume the $7,000 is refundable, you would get the entire $7,000 as a refund.
