"The chipmaker will also institute temporary salary cuts, with its CEO Dirk Meyer and Executive Chairman Hector Ruiz both taking a 20 percent cut." That I like. Usually a company will sack a bunch of the lowest workers, but that ends up with too many managers. Also, they tend to cut the pay of just the workers and not the execs.
20% to CEOs mean nothing. I mean Jobs has a $1 salary and he seems to be doing fine, and he's not the only CEO with a really low salary as a PR move. Besides most executives' compensation comes from stock or other incentives. The 10% to the lower tiered employees is far more painful than what the execs are going through. It's a good PR move, but I doubt it'll hurt them too much.
Looks like I pissed off a couple of AMD fanbois. I used to use AMD chips until they went downhill with the problems that plagued their multi-core processors. I'm back on-board with Intel now.
