Usually abbreviations are used in order to shorten the amount of time you spend having to type something. But using an abbreviation and then the full term is effectively pointless, just like this reply.
My Celeron M laptop (also from HP) is overall good performer and speedstep works just fine if you plug in p4-clockmod > battery life is 3hrs with the regular battery. Granted I don't game with it, but it's not bad for a 500$ laptop, eh?Don't complain if you can't use it.
If I bought Technology just for technologies sake, I probably wouldn't be married... after all - something about bills and stability, etc. These were buzzwords that I didn't' know until I got married. :)Joking aside, purchasing a laptop is much different than getting a desktop. I could easily swap out components in a desktop on the cheap, however laptops are another story. When is the last time that your laptop didn't give a fit when the CPU was replaced, if it could be replaced at all?Understanding this, anytime that I purchase a new laptop, I make sure that I deck it out as much as possible, just because I know that I'm going to be stuck with it for a while (read: wife won't allow weekly upgrades, nor will pocketbook). Buying a laptop now, one would easily choose the Core Duo, but why would I purchase now when I know that the Turion X2's were right around the corner. At the very least, the market is no longer one sided - review can come out, prices will come down, and I can get the best bang for my buck for a laptop that will easily last three years or more.... unless my work suddenly decides do be *really nice* and get me a new laptop.
Bull s**t!!!!!!!!!!!!!!You Have No F'n Idea What You Are Talking About!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!AMD's AMD64 Technology is pure 64-Bit that is backwards compatible with 32-Bit programs leading to it's success. The Athlon 64 and Opteron 64 series can run straight 64-Bit with no 32-Bit support, but that is why Intel's Itanium died early, AMD released athlon 64 at an affordable price compared to itanium and it supported/supports 32-Bit Windows and Linux (even though Linux is 32/64-Bit).The Itanium line only processed 64-Bit requiring the companies upgrading to it to wait fro Windows XP Professional x64 and their programs to be produced for 64-Bit, which is not simply changing some base code, but a complete and time consuming rebuild of the program., or migrate to unfamiliar 64-Bit OSes and programs. The Athlon 64, X2, FX, and Opteron 64 Single and Dual core debuted with 128-Bit Memory controllers, and now currently have 256-Bit memory controllers. Just because it is Opteron does not mean 64-Bit, Opteron debuted about with the Athlon XP both of which were 32-bit, but with the Athlon 64 came the Opteron 64, both 64-Bit.Intel still has no widespread true 63-Bit processors, Itanium is the only one.

Not true celerons have completely crappier architecture than pentium, but both are worse than Turion 64/64 X2, and Athlon 64/64 X2/64FX.

Opterons, and Athlons, and even Semprons on AM2 have Virtualiztion support
