I wonder if he had a fan blowing on the motherboard at all? The heatsink fins that surround the cpu socket are meant to be cooled with the flow of air in your case.

Umm, so what? I have a 4200+ (939) running at 2751 with air cooling. Wasn't hard, very stable. It's a Zalman fan with arctic cooling, running at 275 FSB X 10.
