reclaimliberty.org — Does possession of more than $10,000 automatically make you a criminal? Anastasio Prieto was never charged with anything. He was fingerprinted, though, and deprived of $23,700. The government has said he can have his money back (in about a year) if he can prove it didn't come from drug trafficking. The ACLU is suing the DEA on his behalf.

on capwin's buried comment. It wasn't a conviction, it was a seizure. The cops got away with seizing the money by connecting it to a drug deal. They would need further evidence of drugs being illegally bought or sold to go forward in court with a conviction.

You think that repeated proof of hypocrisy from their leadership would shut these neo-cons up... wouldn't you. You might even think that such proof of hipocrisy would make them stop listening to their leadership. If anybody wants to see a "stupid sign" read bingobongony's comment.

There are no lucky winners in Vegas. Those are all homeless people given nice clothes and a hot meal for jumping up and down in front of slot machines.

I would like more info on this. Do they confiscate the car before or after a conviction? If after... then I'm with Monk. The drunk assh**e can walk. If the confiscate before a conviction then the police can go to hell.

"Screw the constitution; patriotism for president"Clearly a neo-con. This is why we don't like you. Anybody that says "screw the constitution" is no friend of the U.S. (no matter what they think).

I'll have to read up on it more myself, but my assumption, if it follows the same model as other asset forfeiture laws, then it would mean seizure of the car regardless of DUI conviction.
