Read the actual Amendment, that argument is not totally invalid. The Amendment uses the word militia not individual. However beyond that the ACLU has to choose which fights to spend their resources on, the second Amendment has the NRA and other lobby groups fighting for it, very few groups are out there fighting the fights ACLU take on.

free, it is in fact completely unfounded if you understand what these words and terms meant in the 18th century when they wrote it. They tried to put it in very plain english so even people like you can understand it.First, the first part of the 2nd amendment is what is called a "preamble", it is meant to put the sentence into context. Second,the term regulated in 1789 meant "to make regular", not to control like it means today, and the term "well regulated" meant well trained and supplied. Third, the founders didn't believe in having a standing army, so every male between the ages of 16 and 42 was part of the militia.the part that you really need to pay attention to is, "The Right of the People to Keep and Bear Arms SHALL NOT BE INFRINGED."
