Osama bin Laden isn't a top threat anymore, we have to hunt down all the terrorists that have come out of the unrest in Iraq and Afghanistan!

Of course the government is standing in the way of getting bin Laden! If they caught or killed the guy, then they'd have to come up with some other face to keep in front of us at all times. But Osama bin Laden is the perfect poster child. He's the one we see on the news all the time. He's the one who is supposed to scare us so we'll gladly give up our precious liberties and beg government to protect us and take care of us.Problem is, those who will give up a little liberty to gain a little security don't deserve either one. (paraphrase of Benjamin Franklin)Visit the Freedom Force International website to learn about how a collectivist government grows by keeping its citizens either scared or entertained (anesthetized).

Wouldn't his capture vindicate Bush's policies? I'd be more inclined to think that Osama's capture would be a huge trophy for the war on terror. It would practically silence the critics along the lines of "See! our policies are working!" It would probably solidify support for Patriot Act type legislation, at least temporarily.Of course the catch is that he would actually have to be captured, something that doesn't seem to be high on Bush's to do list... probably because it isn't necessary to wage the 'war on terror.'

I have indeed done a significant amount of personal research on the validity of the claims. When I said "baseless" I meant "baseless after 20 minutes of simple research."I'll make it easy for you:http://www.journalof911studies.com/volume/200609/W ...http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/9/11_conspiracy_theor ...http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/9/11_advance-knowledg ...http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Controlled_demolition ...http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8n-nT-luFIwhttp://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cddIgb1nGJ8http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iEuJimaumW4http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5akpnIFK-RMhttp://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0gElTyejWs4HQ: http://www.megaupload.com/?d=G0RBBM7DAside from the obviously outlandish claims, the only ones I can possibly see gaining any traction are the controlled demolition claims, and they are easily debunked by this video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5akpnIFK-RM (intended for the opposite purpose), this video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cddIgb1nGJ8 and as much as I hate to say it, one of the final interviews in this video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kcrF346sS_IDripping with cheese, I know. When a building is demolished, it does not collapse all at once. It's quite messy and has a tendency to pancake out and smash on itself. Instead, as you can see from the comparison video, a "ripple" effect is used to rapidly shift weight from one side of the building to the other, or from the outside to the inside. The fact that WTC 7 didn't spread out is attributed to its "U" shape that when leaning forward (the side near WTC 1 and 2) it caused an awkward distribution of weight on the front high side of the U.The simple fact remains that after a little bit of research, you can see the base for these claims quickly evaporate.

The historic ties between the Bush and bin Laden family means no capture of Osama until at least 2009. I predicted it in 2002 and its a fact that he was cornered at Bora Bora and escaped by no mere coincidence. Neither is it coincidence that the U.S. diverted its attention to Iraq just in time to give Osama a breather. No doubt, he's enjoying pina coladas at a 5-star hotel in Karachi, saved his beard and goes by the name "Al." In fact, he's probably reading this thread right now.

Ok, first of all, I'm an American too...not someone from another country, passing judgment, from afar. I've lived amidst the ignorant assh**es my whole life who change their political views, only when the ones they've clung to for the last 4, 8, 12 years, don't suit their interests anymore, rather than simply making logical and socially beneficial decisions about political policy and then sticking to them.Secondly, I didn't vote for Bush either, in either election. However, THE MAJORITY of Americans voted Bush into office, twice and THE MAJORITY of Americans rallied around him and his "War on Terror" for the first several years following 9/11. I live in a major metropolitan area and it wasn't until a year or two ago, before you could swing a dead cat over your head and NOT hit someone with those stupid yellow ribbon magnets or American Flags on their cars, so yes, while a lot of people here on Digg are socially conscious and "knew better all along" (which is a highly debatable period of time), there are a lot of Americans who've only wised up in the latter portion of Bush's presidency and in many cases, for shortsighted reasons, such as the affiliated affect of a war-time economy on personal finances.Unless you've never (since or immediately following 9/11) held a position supporting the current administration and military action against the "perpetrators", the fact that you've might've changed your views since then, doesn't excuse you from being an "ignorant American", when some of us were saying something to the effect of "This will not end well" actually on September 11th, or shortly thereafter. I made a bet the morning of September 11th, 2001, against my roommate that no matter what happened, we'd be at least in Iraq inside of 4 years and there would be extensive debate and social discourse over America's intentions in the middle east. I won that bet, but we, as a country of real people have been losing for at least 8 years now. Some people have only wised up as of recently and thats why a sizable portion of the American population are ignorant. (Mind you, I never said "stupid" or resorted to insulting anyone, personally. Ignorance is often perpetrated by unknown agents.)
