Not a single practical piece of advice there, just basic common sense that applies to anything you do. You would do just as well to say:#1 Put everything in its proper place#2 Be clear#3 Don't be ambiguous#4 Use appropriate information#5 Take your time to do things right#6 Don't suck

I'll actually use my desktop as a bit of a workspace, and then file things appropriately and back them up. But a quick look at my desktop is a good indicator of what I am currently working on.

No, practical advice is advice that leads one to specific courses of action. "Be methodical" doesn't tell me s**t. It's like a coach saying "The key to winning games is to get more points than the other guy".
