highschool.rivals.com — Soon after the game ended, his inbox began filling with angry e-mails, some from Estero parents wondering why so many points were necessary, some from Naples parents wondering why their kids didn't play more in an effort to pad their stats. "There's only one way to describe it," Kramer said. "Just bizarre."

I agree with most everything you said.Restructuring teams into divisions based on "skill" (instead of size) is a bad idea, imo. It could work in some areas, but in most places it's not possible. My old high school already plays teams several counties away. Most schools can't afford to send their teams long distances to play games (nor should they spend money sending teams long distances) - granted teams raise funds to cover their costs, it's not economically feasable for every area to constantly send their teams somewhere else.Besides that, football isn't about finding competition you can beat. It's about the experience of practice, discipline, execution, and challenge. 2A colleges play the "big guys" knowing they are almost certainly going to get blown out, but that doesn't mean they've "wasted" a game or "humiliated" their team. For example, not being able to get a first down has (usually) much more to do with the team on offense than the team on defense - if you're botching snaps, why waste the reps in the blowout game to practice it; if you're fumbling hand-offs, why waste the game reps when you could use them to practice it? It's important for teams to understand exactly why they are losing, not just *that* they are losing - sometimes the best way to learn is by getting destroyed a time or two (been there, done that).

Your an Obama supporter, aren't you?

Don't worry. As soon the Messiah is elected and the wealth redistribution begins, gaps of this magnitude will be a thing of the past. Under an Obama presidency, Naples still would have won, but the score would have been more like 50 - 41.

I also live in Naples and was at the game - No one wants to see a team lose that bad, but there's not much a coach can do. What should he say to a kid from the JV when he intercepts 3 passes and returns one for a touchdown - don't try to catch the ball, or when the Estero punter has the snap sail over his head into the endzone, "Hey Mr. Lineman, don't get the only TD of your life". Everyone in the Naples stands felt badly for the Estero players and coach, but don't blame Naples because they are good. Less than 10 years ago they were lunchmeat and could hardly win a game. And to the guy from Barron Collier below, you guys were 10 time worse under Tanner at running up the score, flagrant fouls, recruiting - basically classless. I hope Naples doesn't run it up too badly against you.
