I always specify "Arial Helvetica sans-serif" because Arial is designed to be a screen font, while Helvetica is designed for print. Helvetica always looks nicer in print, but Arial has better hinting and simpler forms that make it look far better than Helvetica on screen. It comes down to personal preference, I suppose.
